Tint Meter by Highapps

This policy describes how Highapps (“we”) handles information in the Tint Meter Android app (package am.highapps.tintmeter). Tint Meter estimates window-tint visible light transmission (VLT) using your phone’s ambient light sensor. It is free and supported by ads.

We do not operate our own user database or login. We do not require an account, name, email, or phone number to use the app.

What the app does

• Takes two light-sensor readings (through glass and without) and computes a VLT estimate, tint level, and accuracy range.
• Lets you optionally save a measurement locally with a title you type, then view, share, or delete that history on the device.
• Lets you share a branded result card (image plus a Google Play link) through the Android share sheet.
• Shows AdMob banners on the home and result screens and one interstitial ad per app process after a result, when ads are allowed.
• Uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand usage and fix crashes.

Results are estimates only. The app is not a certified tint meter and is not for legal, regulatory, law-enforcement, insurance, or professional certification use.

Information we do not collect

Tint Meter does not ask for, and the app does not read:

• Your name, email, phone number, or payment details
• Precise or approximate location
• Contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or files (except a temporary share image the app creates)
• Account credentials (there is no sign-in)

We do not sell your personal information.

Data stored on your device

The following stays on the phone unless you share it or Android backs the app up:

• Language (English, Russian, or Armenian) and onboarding flags.
• Measurement history you choose to save: title, date, VLT, tint level, accuracy range. Titles are whatever you type (for example “BMW — front left”). We do not upload history to Highapps.
• A random install ID used only to group analytics and crash reports from the same install.
• Counts of completed measurements and sessions, for analytics.
• A share image written to app cache when you tap Share, then handed to the app you pick (WhatsApp, Gmail, and so on). We do not upload that image to Highapps.

Uninstalling Tint Meter, or clearing the app’s storage in Android settings, deletes this on-device data. If your device uses Android backup, those preferences and history may be included in your backup to your Google Account and restored if you reinstall.

Light sensor

Tint Meter requires a working ambient light sensor. Readings are processed on the device to compute VLT. We do not stream a live sensor feed to our servers. Summary figures from a completed measurement (such as VLT, tint level, and light levels in lux) may be sent to Firebase Analytics as described below.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Ads are provided by Google AdMob. The app requests the Android Advertising ID and internet access for this purpose. You may see:

• A banner on the home screen and on the result screen
• At most one full-screen interstitial after a measurement, once per app process

In regions where Google’s consent messages apply (including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), Tint Meter shows Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) form before requesting ads. Ads are loaded only when that form allows it (canRequestAds). Personalized advertising follows the choices you make there and in your device’s ad settings.

Google and its partners may collect device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and interaction data to serve and measure ads. That processing is governed by Google’s policies, not by a Highapps server.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google Play services). Analytics collection is enabled for the app. Crashlytics is enabled so we can diagnose failures.

Typical events and properties include:

• Screens opened (home, result, history, onboarding, info)
• Measurement flow (start, complete, reset, abort, quality, low light)
• Completed VLT / tint values and lux summaries for a finished reading
• Language, whether onboarding was finished, whether a light sensor is present, app version
• Ad requests, fills, impressions, clicks, and paid-event values from AdMob
• The anonymous install ID as the Analytics and Crashlytics user ID
• Crash logs, stack traces, and diagnostic keys (for example current screen or measurement step)

In code, analytics storage consent is granted so we can keep the product stable and understand usage. Ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization follow the UMP / ads consent result. Turning down personalized ads does not by itself turn off crash reporting or basic analytics.

Permissions

• Internet — ads, analytics, crash reporting, and opening this policy or the Play Store listing.
• Advertising ID — AdMob, subject to your consent and device settings.
• Light sensor — required hardware feature for measurements (not a runtime permission dialog).

The app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or storage access to your photos.

Sharing with other apps

If you share a result, Android’s share sheet sends an image and a Play Store URL (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=am.highapps.tintmeter) to the destination you choose. That destination’s privacy policy then applies. The in-app info screen also links to this policy.

Children

Tint Meter is a vehicle / glass measurement tool. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the digital-consent age in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EU). The ads SDK is initialized with under-age-of-consent set to false because we do not intend the app for that audience. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that sent data to Google, contact us and we will help as far as the third-party consoles allow.

Your choices

• Ads consent — complete or revisit the UMP message where it is shown; also use Android Settings → Privacy / Google → Ads (reset advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization).
• History — delete a saved reading, or use Clear all, or uninstall the app.
• Share — only happens when you tap Share; you choose the receiving app.
• This policy — linked from the app’s info screen.

Security

Traffic to Google (ads, analytics, crashes) uses encrypted connections provided by those SDKs. On-device history is stored in the app’s private preferences. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app’s data practices change (for example new features, ads, or analytics). The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
